"Be the Change"!

“Be the change you wish to see in the world” is a quote by Gandhi.  The Hideaway Ranch and Refuge is trying to live up to those profound words.  We have always tried to be “Earth Friendly”, but we are going to be taking it to another level.  The Politics of climate change or global warming aside, I hope we can all agree that we should do what we can to limit our impact on the environment.  Over the next few months you will notice a few changes at the Hideaway that we hope will help in our own small way.

We are attempting to phase out our use of plastics and individual plastic containers that never decompose.  We will no longer be providing individual containers of shampoo and conditioner, but we will be providing bulk containers of environmentally friendly products.  We will be converting to biodegradable trash bags and will ask our guests to try and limit their garbage output.  We will be using environmentally friendly cleaning products to clean the cabins and our laundry detergent will also be eco-friendly.  We are purchasing toilet paper made from recycled paper or bamboo.  We will also ask our guests to help us by limiting the amount of laundry by using towels more than once during their stay. 

We are also partnering with “Clean the World”, an organization that takes gently used individual soap bars, sanitizes and re-packages, them and distributes them around the world to people in need; thus giving them the ability to practice good personal hygiene.  This Organization can help save thousands, even millions, of lives by simply providing a way for lesser developed areas, or areas struck by natural disasters, to practice good hygiene and help prevent the spread of communicable diseases.

We hope that our guests take these changes as they are intended and help us to “be the change”!
