Working hard or hardly working
Hello, friends! Rupert here, your trusty basset hound resident of The Hideaway Ranch, back with my weekly update. It’s been a busy week around here, and I’ve got lots to tell you, so let’s get right to it.
This week, I’ve been putting in some serious work alongside Jason, and his two sons, Jess and Luke. They’re both back home and it’s been a real treat having them around to help with the projects. It’s like the whole team is back together, and I’ve been doing my best to supervise (or at least offer moral support… I think that counts).
We’ve been working on building a new fence for a holding pen, which, if I’m being honest, has turned into a bit of a spectacle. It's located in a highly visible spot on the ranch, right on the main path to the office, so every time someone walks by, they get to see us hard at work. It’s a little like we’re putting on a show, which, in my opinion, is exactly how all construction projects should be.
Now, I’d love to tell you I’ve been doing all the heavy lifting, but that’s just not the case. Jason and his sons are the real workhorses here, but I’ve been overseeing the operation, sniffing out any loose nails (you never know when one might sneak up on you), and making sure no one gets distracted, but someone’s got to stay focused. When we weren’t working on the fence, we were busy giving the buidings in Buffalo Gulch a fresh coat of stain. It was a real family effort, I had to make sure the stains were up to my high standards.
The warm weather this week has been perfect for these outdoor projects, and we’ve been able to get a lot done without any worries of rain. I have to admit, the town looks fantastic with that fresh stain—very polished, very inviting, and very much to my liking, especially with Thanksgiving coming up.
The ranch is a popular spot this time of year, especially with the beautiful weather we’ve been having. Everyone’s getting into the fall spirit, and I’ve noticed more and more folks stopping by to take photos of the landscape, enjoy some quiet time by the fire, and pet yours truly (which, let’s be honest, is a highlight of my day).
Looking ahead, we’re all getting excited for Thanksgiving, which is right around the corner! The ranch is gearing up for the holiday traffic, and we’re making sure everything is in tip-top shape. One of the things I’m particularly excited about is the brand new fire pit we’ve got in place. It’s the perfect spot for guests to gather, roast marshmallows, share stories, and enjoy the crisp evening air.
As always, there’s a lot of anticipation around the holidays, and I’m really looking forward to spending time with the guests and, of course, being the center of attention around the fire pit (it’s *really* where I shine). There’s nothing better than a warm fire and a cozy atmosphere to bring everyone together.
Before I sign off, I want to remind everyone that we still have some space available for holiday parties! If you’re looking for a place to host a memorable event this season, be sure to reserve the **Siver Dollar** meeting room now. It’s a lovely space with all the charm of The Hideaway Ranch, and it’s perfect for family gatherings, office parties, or even a small, intimate celebration with friends.
You know what they say: the holidays come fast, so make sure you get your reservation in before it’s too late. I’m sure you’ll all enjoy it as much as I enjoy sniffing out the leftover treats.
Well, that’s all for this week. I’m off to do some more supervising, but before I go, I’ll leave you with a few sage words from your favorite basset hound: Work hard, play harder, and never forget to stop for a belly rub.
Until next time,
Rupert the Basset Hound
